The Dear One of Nasaf: Aziz Nasafi’s “Epistle on Love”

Abstract:

Aziz Nasafi, the prominent 13th century Muslim mystic of Iran and Central Asia, was one of the first exponents of Islamic esoteric thought to draw the attention of western scholarship. Here, an introduction and translation of his impressive Persian “Epistle on Love” are presented. This epistle forms an important part of the author’s Book of the Perfect Man (Kitab Insan al-Kamil).
